Yes! If you will be traveling to the area where your child lives and would like to arrange to meet him/her, please contact our office at least one month in advance to make arrangements. If you are traveling with a short-term mission team, please be sure to work with your team leader to plan time for meeting with your child. Although there are circumstances that may arise, our team will make every effort for you to meet your sponsored child.
Updates on children in our program may come about in different ways. If there is a major life event or change in the child you sponsor’s life, our sponsorship team will be sure to contact you with that update. General community updates are released once a term by email, you will receive three community updates a year. You are also able to communicate directly with your sponsored child. As always, you do have the ability to send mail directly to your sponsored child.
We understand that life can be busy and it’s easy to overlook details no matter how important they may be to us. If we see that there is missed support, we will make 3 attempts to reach you to update your information and discuss how we can get you back on track with your sponsorship. We’re here to help you catch up so that you can maintain the special relationship you’ve built with your sponsored child. Our program’s success relies on sponsors fulfilling their commitments. If we don’t receive support for your child for three consecutive months and our attempts to reach you remain unanswered, we will have to cancel your sponsorship. This allows us to find a new sponsor to support the child.
No. Children or their families are not required to be Christians or to become Christians in order to be a part of our program. However, due to our mission to share Jesus with each person we interact with, students will participate in Christian-based programs and activities. Our hope is that through our program, and access to a local church, our students and their families do come to know Jesus and build a personal relationship with Him.
A child can have only one sponsoring person, couple, or family. We do, however, allow relatives or small groups to collectively sponsor a child. However, there will never be one child who has two separate sponsors receiving two separate sponsorships.
