Who We Are

Our History

Covenant Treasures School exists to offer quality Gospel centered education to children from most needy slum livelihoods in Nairobi. In our eyes, these children who become pupils in our school are “treasures” (Exodus 19:5). They and their families are precious despite the poverty in their surroundings. Here we give them food to nourish their bodies, and quality education to give the a fare advantage in life. Each child has a story that is replete with injustices of diverse dimensions. Many hardly eat a more than a meal-a-day. Many come to us struggling malnourished. Most of their parents (mostly single) work hard in menial jobs like doing laundry house-to-house, working in construction sites, hawking foodstuffs among others. Some of their parents are dealing with illnesses such as HIV/AIDS among other debilitating sicknesses. The chances of a prosperous future for these children are grim. It is so sad because for many, their families have lived through successive generations of teen pregnancy and it is the norm to find that the parent is a teen-mom, the grandmother is in her 30’s, her great grandmother is in her 50’s and her great grandmother is aging all living in the same slum reality. Majority of the houses in the slums are made of mud. As if this is not enough, children from the slums being the most vulnerable suffer most from violence physical, sexual and are the easiest target for those seeking to do medical experiments through unexplained and some have suffered greatly from botched vaccinations. At CTS we believe that Jesus came to give abundant life and this includes breaking free from cycles of poverty and defeat. Education is one such platform that enables the child develop a different and empowered mindset. This way they can build a better future for their families and in this advance God’s Kingdom. We work to ensure happier, healthier children thereby empowering their families. Every child deserves this opportunity in life, love and quality education. In the last 20 years, we have successfully intervened in facilitating more than 1000 students from the slums to get a second chance in life through education.
